SANDI ANDERSON Dip AD

I Graduated from Glasgow School of Art in Graphic Design and Photography.

Following a long and fulfilling career as a Graphic Designer in television, I began painting full time in 2003 after spending the best part of two years drawing in the life room.

I have exhibited at the Royal Scottish Academy, NOAC14 at Somerset House in London, Royal Glasgow Institute, RGI KELLY GALLERY, Paisley Arts Institute and various group shows.

In January 2017 I was the recipient of The House for an Art Lover Award at the 136th Annual Exhibition of the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolour (RSW) at the Mound in Edinburgh.

My prize includes a solo exhibition at The House for an Art Lover which is planned for the Spring of 2018. Dates to be confirmed.

In November 2016 I was the recipient of The Glasgow Art Club Award at the 152nd Royal Glasgow Institute in the Mitchell Library.

As part of my prize, I have a solo show there in the summer of 2017. It runs from 12-28th August at GLASGOW ART CLUB, 185 Bath Street GLASGOW G2 4HU

Open to the public Mon - Sat between 12.00 - 17.00. Ring the buzzer for entry.

In 2005 I was awarded the Gatehouse Gallery Prize in the Scottish Drawing Competition. Drawing remains at the core of my practice.

I first ventured out into the landscape ‘en plein air’ in 2009 and as each year passes, I spend more time outside battling the elements. I have made work on Harris, Lewis, Skye, Moray Coast, Summer Isles, Assynt, Iona, Mull, Colonsay, Coll,  Argyll, Kyle and Lochalsh, North Uist, Cornwall, Iceland . . . and the list is expanding.

In 2014 I began spending time in the Glasgow Print Studio and it’s proving addictive. Things in print are becoming abstract.

In May 2015 I took part in the the first series of SKY ARTS LANDSCAPE ARTIST OF THE YEAR which was first broadcast in the autumn of 2015. I was selected as the Wildcard Winner of Episode 4 at the National Trust’s Lyme Park in Cheshire.

In August 2015 I exhibited at Pittenweem Arts Festival. In September 2015 I shared a show at the Royal Glasgow Institute’s KELLY GALLERY in ‘Five Painters’.

In the summer of 2016, I had a three month residency in Iceland. A joint exhibition followed from that residency.

LIGHT LAND LATITUDE ran from 13 May - 4 June 2017 in the War Memorial Gallery at SUMMERHALL - I Summerhall, EDINBURGH EH9 1PL  It showed three responses to ICELAND by three artists - two Scots and one Icelander.
